While at a recent conference, an employer stated it has been more common to see people arriving late for interviews and showing up in pajamas. This particular employer states the hiring manager on occasion has suggested to the candidate, “You do not appear ready for this interview. I will allow you until the top of the hour to return home prepare for the interview and arrive on time.” When the applicant did as suggested and then arrived on time, dressed appropriately, for the interview, the manager gave the applicant the job and opportunity to prove the applicant could be successful. Wow, that’s a new innovative approach! I really don’t think, however, you could always be lucky enough to have an employer take that position if you arrive at your interview in pajamas. There are other first impression turn-offs for an employer and the linked article can help you avoid those interview-killing moments.
